Before Christmas, the University and the Students Union asked you to complete the Student Barometer Survey – a great opportunity for you to say what the University needs to do more of, and what it needs to improve.

The aim was to build a comprehensive picture of the many different aspects of student life at Manchester, informing the University’s ambition to provide an outstanding experience.

Almost 8,500 of you responded – thank you. This fantastic level of participation means work can now begin to create action plans to bring about improvements.

Results vary across the University and specific data for your own School has been shared with your course reps (click here for more information), who can give you more information.

But overall you said you were very satisfied with a number of elements;

You also told us there were a number of areas where the University can make improvements;

The University and the Students’ Union will now be working with staff across the institution to address the issues raised, and agree how the good things the University does can be used to encourage further improvements.

Congratulations to those of you who finished up as lucky winners in the prize draw, and congratulations to the School of Education, who achieved the highest response rate proportionate to their student numbers. A £1,000 prize was awarded to the School, to spend on enhancing the student experience.

 The next round of the Student Barometer will start after the Easter break – this will allow us to monitor changes in responses over the academic year, comparing expectations with reality.

Thank you again for your participation and support so far, and keep your eyes peeled for your next chance to help us deliver an outstanding experience for Manchester students.
