Life after 'swap me' - what if you didn't?

Published on 11 May 12

Thanks to everyone - including the Student Services Centre staff who did a great job manning the swap me stations and our hard-working ambassadors with the 'swap me' signs - for making the student card swap a great success.

The news is that 13,300 of you swapped your cards over 10 days at five locations around the campus, which represents a great effort.

The prize draw for the six £50 vouchers has now been made - of you were a lucky winner, someone will be in touch very soon.

If you haven't yet managed to swap your card, you can still do it at either the Student Services Centre near the Main Library, and also the SSC in the Joule Library, during the exam period.

It you can, it's better to swap your old card now, rather than wait until September, when the queues will be longer.

All students continuing their studies from September 2012 onwards will need the new proximity cards (similar to the Transport for London Oyster cards) in the future to access University buildings and facilities - including the new Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, which will open in time for the next academic year.

If you are going to be away from the University campus for an extended period, please contact the Student Services Centre on 0161 275 5000 or email ssc@manchester.ac.uk. You can also connect with the SSC via their Facebook page.

Once you get your new card, please make sure you look after it - although it is fairly robust, you do need to take care of it, to ensure it continues to work properly. More advice can be found here.
