BP investment to fund scholarships

Ten scholarships will be awarded to students in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences following investment from BP.

BP, one of the UK’s leading graduate recruiters, has launched a new scholarship programme for talented science, technology, engineering and maths undergraduates. The scholarships are each worth £5,000 per year.

First year undergraduate students from a range of programmes in the faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences can apply for the scholarship, but initial online applications must be received by 12 noon on Friday 30 November. Those eligible should have already received an email, inviting them to apply.

The recipients of the scholarships will be invited to participate in a range of activities both on campus and on site with BP. These will include a two to three day interactive event designed to help students understand more about the oil and gas industry, with the opportunity to shadow a BP intern for two to three days during the summer, as well as early access to apply for both the BP Internship programme and graduate programme.

The scholarships bring the total of BP's investment in students at Manchester to over £1 million. In addition to scholarship and research funding, BP staff also work with a number of Schools across the University to provide employability, skills, and careers training.
