New Library and Learning Commons services to give you a boost

Struggling with searches? Daunted by databases? Rubbish at referencing? If so the Library and Learning Commons' skills clinics may be just what you need.

The Library is launching a wide range of new workshops to help you get to grips with your studies. You can get help with academic problems every Wednesday and Friday, 13:00 – 14:00 during term time. There’s no need to book, just drop in at Blue 4 Teaching Suite in the Main Library.

If you’re after more in depth help on a certain topic such as assignment essentials or dealing with facts and figures, check out the library training diary and make sure you’re signed up to the courses you’re interested in as there are a limited number of places at each session.

There are lots of different courses available to help you with a range of different topics including: making the most of electronic resources, bibliographic skills, research methods, academic skills, and employability skills. So if you’re unsure about anything, these sessions should cover everything you want to improve your confidence with your studies.

The Learning Commons also has a series of workshop sessions for the second semester.  All of these courses can be found on the MyLibraryEssentials Calendar and on the Learning Commons links bundle.

The learning Styles workshop will encourage you to understand how you learn, to be more effective at taking notes, and improve your revision and academic writing. This interactive and fast-paced workshop is open to all students at the University. They are also hosting workshops on presentation skills, revision and more.
