The University College for Interdisciplinary Learning presents a lecture by the President on her latest research

You can find out a bit more about the research conducted by Dame Nancy Rothwell, the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University by going along to her lecture: A stroke of bad luck: understanding and treating brain disease.

You can get tickets for the event from 15th February and they can be booked from the University College website

The lecture will take place on Thursday 14 March 2013 at 4.30pm, here's a little preview of the topics she will be discussing:

Stroke is caused by the blockage or bursting of an artery in the brain and is one of the world’s biggest killers. Our research has found that inflammation - which is common in many diseases such as rheumatism and bowel disease - is switched on in the brain after a stroke and an inflammatory molecule causes much of the damage. We are now undertaking clinical trials to block the damaging protein.
