Blackboard is an interactive service where you will be able to find all of your course material and much more. Most lecturers and course organisers use Blackboard as the main way to contact you during their course units. Here they'll post reading lists, coursework outlines, and other documents for the course, such as your course handbook.

To get the most out of Blackboard, spend some time getting to know it's features.

  • Blackboard Mail: Some lecturers will use this messaging service as the only way to contact you during the course. It's important you know where to find it, and that you keep checking back for updates.
  • Course forums: Each or your individual courses has it's own forum noticeboard. The posts you make in this area can be seen by everyone who's taking the course - handy if you're stuck with a particularly fiendish assignment question!
  • Course documents: Many lecturers love to share their interest in their topic by posting extra articles, book chapters, or even podcasts up on the Blackboard pages. Make the most of them to get that extra boost to take you into a First in your assignments.
