Graduation checklist

Graduation - which takes place 8 to 19 July - will be the biggest moment of your academic life, so make sure you’ve completed this checklist to ensure your day runs smoothly
One month before graduation
- Register your intention to graduate (click here and follow the link) and order your guest tickets

Find out about your guest ticket allocations – from 1st July
- Pay off any fines you have outstanding to the university, you may not be able to graduate otherwise.
- Find out about the Alumni Association; take a look at Staying connected after graduation to find out more.
- Decide who will be coming to celebrate with you and how they can get here. Parking may be troublesome, so take a look at some of your other options - more information.
- Is your school having a reception? Most schools do - so make sure you know where and when it is,and find out if you need to collect tickets beforehand.
One week before graduation
- Planning on going out for a meal? Plan ahead and book a table. Luckily, Manchester offers a great choice of celebration venues so you've got lots of choice.
- Plan your day: Make sure you have a clear schedule of where you’re meeting friends and family, how every one will get about and when you need to be at Whitworth Hall, take back your gowns etc.
- Print your guest ticket allocation letter via My Manchester - you will have received an email giving you instructions on how to do this.
One day before graduation
- Charge your phone and camera.
- Make sure you have some change for parking, taxis, buses etc.
What you need on the day
- Guest ticket allocation print out - after Monday 1 July, follow the Graduation link in My Manchester to find this. Bring it with you to the robing room on the day.
- Gown hire reference number – you will have received this via email or over the phone when you booked your attire.
- Camera and phone (but make sure your phone is on silent during the ceremony!)
- Umbrella
Make sure you have a great day, throw your cap in the air (yes it’s cliché but when else will you have the opportunity to do it?) and feel proud of yourself, you’ve done it!
