Culture on the Corridor Student Weekender

Published on 4 October 12

The Student Weekender 2012: a weekend of art, music and cultural events happening along Manchester's student corridor (Oxford Road) from 12-14 October.

The Student Weekender has been created to illuminate the cultural venues along the Corridor to you, with the view to ongoing engagement throughout your time here.

The Student Weekender will be a programme of ‘what’s on’, inspired by activities taking place along the corridor during Manchester Weekender 2012. The programme will highlight other events and student-led initiatives happening on the student corridor.

“The Student Weekender programme will be a student guide to Manchester Weekender that is co-curated by students for students, focusing on what’s happening along the student corridor. It will be a fun and engaging time for students to find out what’s happening right on their doorstep.”  Naomi Kashiwagi, Student Engagement Coordinator

Naomi is co-curating the Student Weekender with Manchester Art Group students. Manchester Art Group are a collective, predominantly made up of undergraduates from Art History and Visual Studies department at University of Manchester, staging events, gigs, trips, engaging with contemporary artists and curating our own exhibitions.

"It's so easy to get overwhelmed by the number of exhibitions and events that happen on in this big city, especially during Manchester Weekender, so we hope the Student Weekender will help students to find what they want to see!  Alice Marshall (Manchester Art Group)

The student weekender has been made possible thanks to funding from Corridor Manchester, the dedication of the student curators and the involvement of all the venues.
