Engineering is fundamental. It tackles the big global issues, it transports, transforms, informs and protects. From fashion to fusion there is no part of our lives that it does not touch.
The QEPrize is a new global £1m prize that celebrates world-changing innovations in engineering that have made a difference to humanity. The QEPrize aims to be an iconic prize that promotes and celebrates the story of modern engineering. It requires an iconic trophy that embodies the spirit of modern engineering and the values of the QEPrize. The organizers are giving young people with interests in Science, Engineering, Design, Art and Architecture the opportunity to design the trophy for the QEPrize by entering the ‘Create the Trophy’ competition. The winning design will be selected by our distinguished panel of judges: Dame Zaha Hadid, Sir Nicholas Serota, Ian Blatchford, Deyan Sudjic and Yewande Akinola. The final trophy will be presented by The Queen to the winner of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering at Buckingham Palace in May 2013. The winner of the Create the Trophy competition will also receive £5,000. |
