Even though you may have been here for years, there's always more to discover around campus. So check out some of these hidden gems and find your new hangout...
Christie's Bistro
Christie's Bistro is one of the most distinctive places on campus. Hidden in the old Christie Library, one of the oldest and grandest buildings on campus, The Bistro is great for quick cups of coffee and a quiet spot of pre-seminar reading, or to sit back and soak up the atmosphere when university life gets too much.
University Language Centre Library
Whether you're taking a language as part of your course or want to pick up one you learned at school again, The University Language Centre Library is the perfect place for you to maintain your language skills. The library is open to all students, and offers interactive resources to help you practice your skill, covering languages from Albanian to Zulu.
Simon Building Computer Cluster
Finding a computer on campus can be a pain - particularly if you're looking in same place as everybody else. The Simon building 6th floor houses one biggest computer cluster on campus and is relatively unknown (until now!). You can also use the iManchester app to check the availability of computers across campus of (there are 140 separate clusters) with many computers fitted with webcams for skyping.
Museum Resource Centre
The Resource Centre of the Manchester Museum is a great place for students to visit. The centre allows you to handle artefacts which have been collected by the museum, allowing you to experience them first hand. Whatever you're studying - from archaeology to zoology - you'll be amazed by the range of objects they have and is a great chance to get a more hands-on learning experience.
Meat Free Mondays at the Students' Union Bar
By now, you're probably familiar with the Union bar, but might not know just how special Mondays are there. Meat-free Mondays is part of the Union's Go Green commitment to become greener, serving more seasonal and locally-produced food. So in support of this, all vegetarian food on the menu is half price, including delicious falafel wraps and pizzas. And no, you don't have to prove your vegetarianism to get the deal, so meat-eaters are also welcome!
The International Society
Not every University is lucky enough to have an International Society right on their campus. It's very much not just for international students, and houses an amazing little cafe, Small World Cafe, and runs a number of events thoughout the year, including up to 80 language classes.
