Looking for a job after graduation? The Graduate Recruitment Fair and Manchester Graduate Intern Programme will be just what you need

Not everyone knows what they want to do after they graduate and even if you do, it can be hard to know where to look for opportunities. Fortunately the Careers Service has got you covered.

Graduate Recruitment Fair

With hundreds of graduate jobs (permanent, temporary and voluntary) plus postgrad course places, local and national vacancies in a variety of sectors, from more than 160 exhibitors, this year's Graduate Recruitment Fair is definitely not to be missed! Each day has different exhibitors, so come twice for maximum effect.

Plan ahead to get the most out of the event: the Careers Service's "Prepare for the Graduate Fair" sessions on Thursday 6th and Monday 10th June will help you work out what you want from the day, and how to make it happen. Find out more or check out the tips on the website.

Manchester Graduate Internship Programme

One of the most difficult things about getting a job after graduation is that so many other students around the country are graduating too. The Manchester Graduate Internship Programme increases your chances of getting your foot in the door by only offering its positions to Manchester graduates.

Since 2008, MGIP has helped hundreds of University of Manchester graduates find graduate level employment. Working with organisations across all sectors (public, commercial and corporate, charities and voluntary) and all industries and fields (e.g. business, creative, finance, retail), MGIP internships offer a short-term insight into a career, with real responsibility.

"I knew I wanted to stay in Manchester (who wouldn’t?!) but I was unsure with regards to potential careers that I wanted to explore. The fact that the MGIP 2012 scheme offered such a variety of differing roles was perfect as I had a multitude of different options to undertake."

While some of the opportunities may lead to permanent positions within the organisation, all of them will give you a better understanding of the workplace, and an opportunity to develop many useful transferrable skills.

Graduates chose to do an MGIP internship for many different reasons. Browse the profiles online for an insight into why other graduates applied for an internship, the different types of work they do and how they have benefitted from the scheme.
