If you owe money to the University, don't bury your head in the sand

Unpaid University debt may prevent you from graduating or registering for next semester, but support is available to help you pay

To make sure you are allowed to graduate or register next semester, check that you do not owe money to the University.

If you or your sponsor owes money to the University for anything - for example, accommodation or tuition fees - an indicator will be placed on your student account which will prevent your graduation or progression.

You can check if there is anything to pay by looking in your online Student Center - log into My Manchester (http://my.manchester.ac.uk), go to the My Services tab and click on the ‘Student Center’ link (you will find this in the Registration box). If there is a red circle () showing, this means that there may be a balance due for payment.

If you can see a red circle, contact the Credit Control Office on 0161 275 8130 and they will be able to inform you of the reason, and talk to you about your options for repayment, including a plan that may make things more affordable.

For graduates, any debts must be settled by Wednesday 26June 2013. If you are due to graduate and you settle any debt after this date, you will be allowed to attend graduation but your name will not appear in the official programme.

It's worth noting that even if no debt is showing at the moment, it's still possible you may fall into debt between now and graduation, so it's advisable to check your online status regularly up until 26 June.

Don't ignore your debt, speak to somebody as soon possible so that we can provide the support you need.
