Get ready to swap your student card

Published on 19 April 12

If you are continuing your studies at the University from September onwards, from Monday (23 April) you should swap your current student card for a new high-tech one.

You will need the new proximity cards (similar to the Transport for London Oyster cards) in the future to access University buildings and facilities - including the new Alan Gilbert Learning Commons, which will open later this year.

Between 23 April and 4 May, the University has made special provision for card exchange, setting up special ‘swap me’ stations and laying on extra staff across campus.

Swapping your card should be quick and easy during the ‘swap me’ period – and you could win a £50 iTunes or Amazon voucher for doing so.

You will be able to swap your current card for a new one at the following locations;

Look for the distinctive 'swap me' logo on posters outside these buildings. Some locations will also have 'swap me' ambassadors outside, to help guide you to the right place.

You can also ensure you get all the latest information and updates on the ‘swap me’ initiative by Liking the swap me Manchester Facebook page.

If you will be unable to swap your card during the designated period, you can do this at a later date at the Student Services Centre.

If you are going to be away from the University campus for an extended period, please contact the Student Services Centre on 0161 275 5000 or email ssc@manchester.ac.uk.

Once you get your new card, please make sure you look after it - although it is fairly robust, you do need to take care of it, to ensure it continues to work properly.
