Study when it suits you - Library goes 24/7

Published on 19 April 12

From Monday (23 April), the Main Library will switch to 24/7 opening, right through the exam period, until Wednesday 6 June.

It's also been announced that the Joule Library will be open until midnight each day from Monday 30 April to Thursday 31 May inclusive.

We've produced a guide to getting the most from extended opening hours – you can read it here.

But a quick reminder
; library staff have recently noticed a lot of people leaving laptops and other valuables unattended while taking a break - please make sure you take these things with you, as unfortunately there are people who will take the opportunity to steal them.

To help you stay on top form mentally and physically, the Library Lounge Café located in the Main Library will open 24 hours Monday to Friday - starting Tuesday 1 May to Friday 1 June. Opening hours will be 9am Monday to 11pm Friday, and Saturday and Sunday 9.30am to 9pm.

Staying healthy and feeling good is vital to your success during exams and there are plenty of easy steps you can take;

-       Eat a varied diet to ensure you body is getting all the nutrients it needs

-       Eat lots of fruit and vegetables as they are great source of vitamins, minerals and dietary fibre

-       Watch your intake of saturated fats and sugar as these will give you a boost but not for long

-       Get active – This doesn’t mean having to go to the gym just try getting off the bus a couple of stops earlier of taking the stairs instead of the lift. Details of drop-in fitness classes and Wellbeing sessions can be found here.

-       Drink lots of water to make sure you stay hydrated

-       Don’t skip breakfast, a healthy breakfast is a great way to kick start the day

There are lots of places around campus serving healthy meals if you need something quick; these range from a hot salad from Potters in the Simon building, a bowl of salad from the salad bar in EATS (University Place), or a jacket potato with beans or vegetarian soup - both available from most outlets daily.

Of course, all this can add up, and so you should try to make time to visit the supermarket on your journey to and from University, and bring your own food and snacks wherever possible.
