See something new

There’s more to Manchester than the Oxford Road Corridor! Why not make this your year to break the habit and discover the culture rich and eclectic vibe of the city you call home?

Meet your 2017 to-do list:

1. Catch an arty film

Head to HOME, on the oh-so cool First Street and check out a plethora of movies you won’t find at your average cinema. Did we mention they do student prices too?

2. Jump, jump, jump around

Just because you’re a Uni student doesn’t mean you have to start adulting just yet! Visit Jump Nation, the largest indoor trampoline park in Europe and located just 5 minutes from The Trafford Centre. Who’s excited?

3. Kittens and cake

Ditch the chains and support local Mancunian businesses in 2017! We know what sounds good right now… a slice of cake and a pot of tea surrounded by furry friends at Manchester’s Cat Café. Word of warning, this place gets busy so be sure to book in advance.

4. Meet you on the lane

Forget the bowling alley in your nearest multiplex, next to the dusty arcade that time forgot and the sweaty burger bar. Manchester is cooler than that. We’re talking after hour’s cocktails, American sliders and state-of-the art bowling. Go mid-week for only £6.95 at All Star Lanes in the Great Northern Warehouse and take a breather from essay-writing and revision.

Bowling not your thing? How about Junkyard Golf instead? Cocktails in paper cups with umbrellas and crazy golf in a totally Instagrammable neon backdrop - uh, yes please!

5. Get your climb on

Make your student bus pass work for it and take the 205 from Piccadilly Gardens to Manchester Climbing Centre - whether you’re completely new to the sport or a seasoned climber, improve your body, wellbeing and balance with a trip to the centre!

6. Hit the slopes

This is where your Unirider really proves it worth, catch an X50 from Piccadilly to Trafford.
Head to Chill Factore and give snowboarding, skiing or even extreme sledging a go with a taster session priced around £27.00.

7. Get all cultured

Did you know Manchester is home to the oldest library in the English speaking world? Cool, right?  Grab Harry, Ron and Hermione and visit the Hogwarts-esque Cheetham’s Library, located just behind Manchester Cathedral and take in its awe-inspiring gothic feel in the Reading Room.
