Give back

Volunteering offers great opportunities to improve your team working and organisational skills as well as enhancing your confidence and ability to work with lots of different groups of people.  It's a great way to give back and build skills at the same time. Win win, right?

Community Volunteering is really popular and there are lots of really interesting projects which help to provide support to local people. From Incredible Edible to the Conversation Club for refugees, you can pretty much guarantee there will be something for you. You can get involved via the University's volunteering team or the Students' Union.

Volunteering at Uni is another great way to get involved. By becoming a Peer Mentor, a Rep or helping out with projects run by the University for potential students you can really influence the experience of other students.

Research Volunteering: Lots of research around the University is carried out by students like you and much of it wouldn't be possible without the help of volunteers. There's a real variety in the type of project you can get involved with. Some studies take ten minutes and involve testing your consumer preferences with an eye tracking machine, others test your sleep patterns in a lab over a number of sessions. All can be enjoyable and rewarding experiences for both you and the researcher. Browse the Research Volunteering list to see what's available now.

Not sure where to start or what's right for you? The Volunteering Team at the University are on hand to offer you support and advice about getting started.

Don’t forget if you’re a new undergrad and started in September, completing 40 hours of verified volunteering contributes towards The Manchester Leadership Award.  Make 2017 your year to step up and make a difference in the wider community!
