The National Student Survey – Time to be heard!

Published on 27 January 17

The National Student Survey (NSS 2017) has just launched it’s your chance to speak up.  Whether you feel your time as a student has been great, or you feel that some aspects could have been better, the completely anonymous survey, operated by Ipsos Mori is a unique opportunity to voice your opinions.  All finalists are eligible to complete the survey and you should by now have received an email from Ipsos-Mori asking you to complete the survey on the NSS website. You’ll also be encouraged by your school to complete the survey.

This year, the University is offering students who complete the survey the chance to win £400 worth of Amazon vouchers, and additionally we will make a donation to charity for every completed survey. Win-win!

Real change

But more than this we really want to hear your opinion on your time here. Listening to students is the best way for the University to understand where things can be improved, or indeed where things are working well.  Each academic school at the University looks carefully at the results and uses them to make to make real changes to the experience of students and to share examples of good practice – things that you tell us are working well in your School can help improve things elsewhere.

University – wide changes have been made to facilities, services or learning experiences as a result of feedback and include things like improvements to feedback times and the creation of the Atrium, I Zone and Welcome Desk in university place - creating a one stop shop for information, advice and guidance services. At course level there are examples of the introduction of work experience placements, the movement of course handbooks online and improvements to social spaces – developments all  instigated by the feedback of the students on those courses.

What changes would you like to see?
