National Student Money Week Event

Published on 2 February 17

This year’s National Student Money Week theme is ‘Waste Not Want Not,’ and we think the old ideas are the best ideas when it comes to saving your cash. So we’ve put together an exciting week of events for you to find out about how to get smarter with your money, from a Snapchat takeover to cooking up a storm in our Grub Club.

06/02/17 – 10/02/17

Join our National Student Money Week Event page!

Monday – Get your questions answered on Snapchat

We will be hosting a Q & A session on Snapchat for you to find out more about budgeting, bursaries and other money saving tips or whatever you want to know! Follow OfficialUoM on Snapchat to ask the Student Money Advisers any questions.

Tuesday –Join our Grub Club

Want to learn how to whip up healthy meals on a budget? Come along to the Grub Club in the Student’s Union Foyer 12pm – 2pm, to pick up tips from live cookery demonstrations, sample different food and drink and purchase discounted ingredients.

Wednesday –Head to the Part-Time Jobs Fair

A part time job can be a great way to earn extra money whilst at the University but also great additions to your CV. Come along to the Student’s Union 10am- 4pm to meet employers, hand out your CV and maybe even walk out with a job!

In the meantime, the Careers Service can help you to freshen up your CV. Visit the Atrium of University Place for further advice.

Thursday – Future Finances

We know that life after graduation can seem daunting so we have teamed up with Barclay’s to give you information on buying your first home, credit ratings, savings and tax. The informal drop-in will run throughout the day on the sofas in the Atrium in University Place from 10.00am until 4.30pm.

Friday – Find us on Facebook

For those of you who didn’t get the chance to ask your questions on Snapchat we will be hosting a Q & A session on Facebook and our Student Money Advisers will respond as soon as possible. Visit our Facebook event to take part.

Don’t forget you can donate to the Foodbank all week!

Instead of throwing away your unwanted food, why not donate your unwanted non-perishable foods to Manchester Central Foodbank. Between the 6th and 10th we have got a collection point on

the ground floor of University Place, all donations are welcome but in particular, peanut butter, tinned meats and long life fruit juice would be most appreciated.
