Here's our guide to services you might have missed...

It’s a really busy semester in the lead up to Easter, we just wanted to remind you of some University services which might have passed you by.

Eye Tests

When you're a poor student the last thing you want to pay for is an eye test. The University offers free ones from final year students – supervised of course - as well as discounts on glasses. All you need to do is give them a call on 0161 306 3860.

Manchester Student Homes

Nothing ruins your time at university like living in a damp, cold flat. Manchester Student Homes have a selection of University-approved houses. This will help you avoid a dodgy landlord who never fixes the leak in your living room. The website also has a noticeboard for finding housemates or short term lets if you suddenly need to find somewhere new. If you've just begun house hunting check out our guide to checking contracts.

Disability Support Office

You may think that once you are at university it's really difficult to get diagnosed as dyslexic or dyspraxic, but all you need to do is email the Disability Support office at dso@manchester.ac.uk. They can sort out getting you tested and then any special arrangements you may need.

Nightline

Nightline is a confidential listening and information service run for students by students. It offers you an anonymous, non-judgemental and non-directive support regardless of the situation. Call between 8pm and 8am every night of term- the number can be found on the back of your library card.

My Learning Essentials

My Learning Essentials is a free service that can help you improve your assignments. There are online courses and ones you can attend in person to help work on your study skills or to answer those niggling questions about referencing.

The Atrium

Hopefully you know about the Atrium already but if not – where have you been? The Atrium is your one stop shop for pretty much everything. It brings together Careers, the Student Money Advisor, and much, much more in one space to help you get the answers you need.
