Published on 30 March 17

This years’ Postgraduate Summer Research Showcase will take place on Tuesday 27 June 2017 and is your chance to showcase your research, as a poster, an image, a short film and a 3D model!

It’s a great opportunity for you to explore interdisciplinary connections, and offers a supportive environment where you can practise presentation skills and gain valuable feedback from both academic and non-academic judges and visitors.

The deadline for all categories is the 8th May

The categories for this year are as follows:

Poster Showcase

Posters provide are a great way to express research in new and exciting ways and open up dialogue with a diverse audience - from specialists familiar with the subject area, to people simply curious to know more, a poster can be the starting point for some very insightful conversations.

See poster presentation guidance for more information.

Image Competition

By stripping away all the technical language and leaving behind the core question of your research, an image can allow you to highlight your research’s overall impact without having to explain all the technical details.

The broad theme for images is “Research in Action” and you are free to interpret this theme as broadly as you like.

See Image guidance  for more information.

Short film competition

The short film category of the showcase is a way to tell the story behind your research in a creative and innovative way.

The story could be anything from how your research has changed or influenced you, your pathway and how you came to study your current area, or even where you see your research going in the future. The 'story of my research’ offers an excellent and rare opportunity for you to reflect critically on your journey and how some aspect of that story has impacted the research you are doing today.

Guidance: It’s important to remember that your video does not need to be of high visual quality, videos filmed on a mobile phone will be fine - what is important is your overall research ‘story’. S

See short film guidance for more information, example videos, tips and tricks for making your video, and also to find details of forthcoming workshops to help you during the creation of your film.

Interactive Research Display

This year’s new category is Interactive Research, and it’s your chance to get even more creative! Entries should incorporate visual aids, physical props in addition to at least one presenter to deliver the content of the demonstration.

See the Interactive Research Display guidance for more information.
