Free things to do around Easter
Published on 6 April 17
With a long bank holiday around the corner, make sure you take a break from all your work to do something different and explore somewhere new. We’re all hoping for lovely weather and chocolate in abundance. With that in mind, here are our top ideas of free things to do in Manchester at Easter.
Pack a picnic:
Sometimes the simplest pleasures in life are the best. We recommend Clayton Vale, off Berry Brow, (M11 8RU) as the perfect spot for some quality time in the great outdoors. Get away from it all by taking a leisurely stroll, a cycle through the woods or go wildlife spotting.
Levenshulme fashion and flea market:
An amazing range of vintage and designer clothes, homewares and trinkets will be on sale in Levy on Saturday 19 April from 10am – 4pm, as the south Manchester suburb hosts its first-ever fashion and flea market alongside its ever-changing roster of traders as well as an impressive array of street food stalls and bars. There'll also be an egg hunt for the little 'uns. Find out more about the Levenshulme Market.
Make-up masterpieces:
Manchester photographer Pan Van-Damned's exhibition World Warpaint explores the art of self-expression through make-up, from Gene Simmons' infamous demon face to Amanda Palmer's eyebrows. This weekend is your last chance to catch it at the Contact Theatre.
Strongman shows:
Flex those muscles and visit the Museum of Science and Industry, where strongman John Evans will display his “eggstraordinary” strength and power by balancing large, heavy objects on his head. In his lunchtime show, he’s making a world record attempt you would be foolish to miss...
Catch the strongman shows from Friday 19 to Monday 21 April will be shown at 11am, 1pm and 3pm at MOSI, Liverpool Road, Castlefield.
Decorate a duck:
It’s the Manchester Duck Race! The sunny riverside terrace overlooking the Irwell is a great place to watch the race. Watch the duck race on Friday 18 April at Left Bank, Spinningfields.
