The way you log in to your University devices is about to change.

Published on 9 May 17

In July, as part of the University's Cyber Security Programme, 2-factor authentication is being introduced to protect some of our systems and services. This will change the way you login on your devices and will require all staff and postgraduate research students to get set up in advance. The change will not affect the way you login to teaching or cluster PCs.

Cyber security is a high priority for the University, to keep both you and our information secure. Getting the right technology in place to help with this is essential.

The Programme is hosting a number of roadshows on the subject of cyber security featuring expert guest speakers from the University, Greater Manchester Police and the Regional Cyber Crime Unit that is part of Titan, the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit.

There’ll also be more information about the University’s Cyber Security Programme and the changes being made to how we log in to some systems, which will keep our key systems secure from cyber criminals.

In June you will receive an email asking you to register for the 2-factor authentication and more information on how to get started.

There are some FAQs to help you too.
