Reminder: Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID)

Published on 13 October 16

It’s important that all PGR students create an ORCID.

You have probably been told, but just in case you haven’t or  you need a reminder, an ORCID is a unique identifier which allows you to distinguish yourself from other researchers and  links together all your professional activities and research outputs throughout your career. Having one will make it more likely that you’re accredited for your work – especially useful if you have a common name or change your name throughout your research career.

What do you need to do?

Registering for an ORCID is quick and easy and we have set up a dedicated page where you can create your ORCID and connect it to your student record. Please see ORCID for PGRs.

If you have any questions please contact the Library’s ORCID Support Service at uml.scholarlycommunication@manchester.ac.uk . The Library will also be running a number of ORCID training sessions throughout the semester. See My Research Essentials for forthcoming dates.
