Developing the skills you need to survive your Masters course

We're a few weeks into semester and the reality of a Masters course is probably manifesting itself in your challenging workload, in the hours you need to spend in the Library and the contribution you are expected to make on a regular basis in seminars.

So, now is a great time to look at how you can develop or improve the skills you'll need to ensure you achieve your very best this year. Although you have already done a degree you aren't expected to know everything you need for your Masters – after all you're still studying. Don't forget many of the face to face workshops are complimented by a suite of online resources. Take a look at the My Learning Essentials website to find all the details. If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed take a step back and think about why you wanted to do your Masters and be confident that you were accepted onto your course because you can do it. However, if things are getting too much you can always talk to your tutor, to the counselling service or seek help through Student Advice and Guidance.
