Make a difference as a Sports Volunteer

The Sports Volunteer Scheme crew will be at the Volunteering Fair as part of JUST FEST 2016 on 18th October 2016.
Why not come along and have a chat to us about how and why you may want to get involved with volunteering in sport specific activities either at the University or with one of the 30+ clubs / organisations who we link with throughout Greater Manchester
Remember : You don’t have to be sporty to volunteer in sport - It is about making sport happen and helping others to achieve
What makes you different? How do you stand out from the crowd?
As well as having fun and making new friends, volunteering in sport will allow you to improve or learn transferrable skills which you will use through your life and will be useful in giving you examples of for skills learnt when completing application forms or taking part in job interviews when you complete your degree.
Some of the skill which you will learn when volunteering in sport include:
- Confidence
- Time management
- Organisational skills
- Teaching skills
- Listening skills
- Conflict management
- Project management
How will my volunteering be recognised?
For each year that you are on the Sports Volunteer Scheme you will receive a certificate of achievement for the hours which you complete and this award (Bronze 25 hours, Silver 50 Hours, Gold 75 hours, Platinum 150 hours) will be recorded on the HEAR of all Undergraduates.
Other benefits
Those volunteering with community clubs and organisation are able to apply for some lovely kit to wear when doing their volunteering – after they have completed the first 10 hours.
As a member of the scheme you can apply for a bursary to help with the cost of qualifications which will help you progress with your volunteering. That is money to help you gain qualifications.
